Reengagement Center Youth Advisory Council

The Montgomery County Collaboration Council has worked in conjunction with community-based partners and County agencies to affect change for the children, youth, and families of Montgomery County. This video showcases our evolving work around ensuring youth participation and voice in our planning efforts to create a Reengagement center for youth at the margins.

Keeping Our Community Connected

MoCo ReConnect is:

  • For youth/young adult ages 16-24 who have dropped out of or who have stopped attending secondary school
  • A resource to reconnect to educational options and support attainment of a high school diploma or GED and job training
  • Peer Connector program designed to provide participants with individualized support, education, and skill-building knowledge
  • The Reengagement Initiative is a collaborative of agencies providing outreach, case management, education, training, resource referrals, and employment services/training 

MoCo ReConnect provide services for LGBTQ youth and young adults.

Services include:
  • LGBTQ Navigator who has a deep understanding and a connection to LGBTQ service providers in Montgomery County
  • Case management and service provider referrals
  • Training for all  MoCo ReConnect staff and ensure that the space is a safe and welcoming for LGBTQ youth
  • Events and programs specific to LBGTQ youth

A Youth Action Board (YAB)

The purpose of YAB is to:
  • Advise the organizations in charge of running MoCo ReConnect on youth related topics and work on projects related to youth homelessness and outreach
  • YAB members are committed to being ambassadors for MoCo ReConnect
  • YAB members engage their community, develop and show leadership, and work together to spread the mission  of MoCo ReConnect
  • The YAB is the youth voice for MoCo ReConnect

MoCo ReConnect will provide homeless services:

  • Staff will work with young adults to resolve their housing crisis through assessment and connection to housing in the community
  • Serve as an entry point to the Montgomery County Continuum of Care
  • In the future MoCo Reconnect will have a Drop In Center with low barrier access to showers, laundry, and other basic necessities
